The women of the congress definitely made themselves felt yesterday. Not only because they are making history with their respective positions, but also with the outfits they chose for the day they formally received their appointment in Congress. Starting with Nancy Pelosi, who made sure to be seen in the crowd, and continuing with the other women who will give the United States government another face this year.
Pelosi, who made history by becoming the Speaker of the House of Representatives for the second time, made a splash with the classic fuchsia knee-length dress she wore. In fact, we did not expect less from her and much less were expected to wear a dark and more demure look because in recent months she has delighted us with very striking and modern looks.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was not far behind and arrived at the important appointment with an elegant white suit of pants and jacket, which she complemented with a top of the same color and a beautiful red lipstick.
The other women of the so-called "new congress" were not far behind, and they made sure to wear garments that would attract attention so as not to go unnoticed in front of the cameras and that was exactly what happened.
Two of the most prominent and striking looks? Undoubtedly, those of Llan Omar and Rashida Tlaib. Omar wore a Hijab, a kind of veil worn by Muslim women, while Tlaib wore a typical Palestinian hand-embroidered costume. Both women proudly represented their roots and it was no wonder. Omar and Tlaib are the first Muslim women to have a place in the United States Congress.
If this was just their first day, we can't wait to see all that they are going to wear and the incredible changes that they are going to make for their communities and especially for the benefit of women. Bravo!
