Known for her online makeup tutorials, beauty vlogger Laura Sánchez has launched her own cosmetic brand under her name that includes Vitini C-rich Martini Prep serum to apply before makeup, and the Moods palette of shadows and highlighters. If you have seen her videos and the photos that hangs on her social networks, you will know that the Colombian, winner of multiple beauty awards, loves to make original and fresh looks that now you can achieve with the palette of shades that includes natural tones such as daring. Very excited for this new stage of her career, Sánchez told us about the inspiration behind her products and gave us some advice for those who want to start their own business.
What inspired you to launch this new makeup line?
I like to learn new things and explore facets of my profession. This is one of them and it is a dream that I have always had, but right now I felt that it was the right moment. I wanted to create an original line, different from what we always see, of good quality and with beautiful packaging. For me every detail is important and it is what makes my products unique. The formulas, colors and art have been created from scratch, around a colorful and fresh concept, but at the same time glamorous and elegant that suits all ages and all tastes. I worked with a Mexican artist to create the illustrations (@soyserrano) and with a Colombian laboratory to create my own products and formulas and little by little I have created a proudly Latino team!
What type of client do you have in mind?
Beauty and fashion must always be inclusive and fit everyone. My line is for boys and girls of any age. The image is young and fresh, colorful and mysterious, but at the same time very clean and elegant. I think of a Latin public, original and risky, who loves makeup but does not necessarily put makeup on professionally, so I wanted my Moods palette to be easy to use, easy to combine and that you would find everything in one place. You have natural and elegant tones, in matte and metallic texture, and vivid tones that you can mix to create new colors. You also have a double brush with one side to blend and another to create details. Of course a large mirror to be able to make up and two Illuminators with beautiful finishes, one champagne for a more sober look and one duochromatic that when applied gives lilac tones for a more magical and fun look. Martini Prep, my second product is a fast absorbing Serum, hydrates the skin without leaving an oily sensation, which makes it perfect for all skin types, even the most oily. It has an effect of firmness and freshness on the skin that smoothes expression lines, open pores and any other texture on the face. Makeup adheres better to the skin and the end result is smooth, firm, luminous and fresh skin.open pores and any other texture on the face. How has being a Latina influenced your career as a makeup influencer?
Being a Latina is part of me and it is so natural that I have not stopped to think about what influences my career. But now that I think about it I feel that belonging to a community has opened doors, connections and friendships for me, also through my work and my content I express my culture in my own way and although I am proudly Latino I like to be able to have a different style and go in against a bit of stereotypes.
There are many vloggers today, what has made you different from the rest?
Yes, there are many other people creating content, even similar content. So similar that followers no longer find anything different and new. I like to have new and entertaining ideas to present makeup, from a simple step-by-step look, to special effects, games and challenges but without abandoning the essence of my content. I always prefer quality than quantity and I enjoy creating the content that I make, that makes the result more beautiful because it shows the love and time that I dedicate to my followers and my platforms
What advice would you give to Latinas who want to become entrepreneurs or start something of their own but don't dare?
I cannot deny that it is difficult, stressful and that you must make a great investment not only of money but also of time and a lot of learning. But the feeling of joy and pride when seeing the ideas that were in your mind materialize make up for everything and the most beautiful thing is when you see your customers excited to support you and try your products. For me, creating my own brand is not only fulfilling my dreams but being able to share it with my subscribers. Every time I present a product I want it to be a surprise and a piece of art. Follow your dreams, create jobs, support other small businesses and you will see how the whole process and the results are more satisfactory
