Puerto Rican ragpicker Benito Martínez, known as Bad Bunny, continues to impress with his street style and break with the standards of fashion, and even beauty. For the 2018 American Music Awards red carpet, the well-known musician chose an outfit that consisted of a skull-print shirt, striped pants, and lip-shaped glasses, something very much in keeping with the artist's typical style. But what really caused a stir on social networks was the third eye that he wore makeup on his forehead.

Whether it's defending pubic hair in an Instagram Stories series or posting his painted nails, the artist always makes it clear that he never follows society's rules for how he should look.

Although Bad Bunny "got up happy," he definitely didn't get up with a third eye. The makeup was created by the Puerto Rican makeup artist, Ingrid Rivera, who exclusively told us what it was like to work with the artist and what she used to achieve the look that was possibly inspired by that of the Gucci catwalk fall 2018.

How would you describe Benito as a person and how was working with him?

[Benito] is a very professional person, a perfectionist and he has a [work] team that loves him very much where everyone is devoted to working as a team so that everything turns out well. Knowing that he was representing us in the AMAs and that I had the opportunity to be part of that totally Puerto Rican team because it was a very beautiful experience.

How did you get the eye on your forehead?

I had to first design [the prosthetic eye] with a type of clay with a mold that is like a mannequin head. There one designs the eye and then you do the negative of the casting and then apply the product that I was using that was gelatin. After that I took the jelly out of the mold and worked the eye from scratch, painting and working it. At the time of putting it on his forehead I had to match it with the color of his skin tone.

What did they want to achieve with makeup?

I honestly don't know about the meaning and the reason why he used the eye. But we all know that he is very different, that he likes to do unusual things. He enjoys it, it is part of his character, of the artist in him. Instead of being serious on [the red carpet], he enjoyed it.

How involved was he in the process of creating the look?

They sent me a referral and I worked with her. Then at the time of the application, as I usually do with my clients, I asked her "do you like it like that?" or "do you want this?" He looked in the mirror and gave me his opinion and there we worked together to create the look.
