Singer Amara la Negra is one of the celebrities who campaigns the most for curly and afro hair in her everyday looks. “As a girl I used to wear curly hair all my life. “At 16 I started educating myself a little more about African American culture, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, people who had the courage to stand up and say no. Then I felt: 'Am I smoothing my hair and going through this whole mission [job] to look good for society?' [For] society is never going to be enough, so I decided not to straighten myself anymore because it wasn't me. I appreciate the moment when I made that decision because after that I have been extremely happy,”he acknowledged in this interview.

If you envy Amara's hairstyle, keep in mind that, as she herself confessed to us, she also has a bit of a trick. “My hair is naturally an afro, but I do use extensions to add volume. I tell you a secret … I just let my mom do my hair for me. I don't go to the living room, I don't like anyone to put their hand on my head.
