The famous stylist Joseph Chase gives us the keys to get these red carpet-worthy curls with super easy to use curling irons.

We are in the middle of the awards season and now more than ever the waves become the star hairstyle on the red carpet. We spoke with stylist Joseph Chase, Ambassador for Instyler Tweezers and their Cerasilk Ceramic Bar Technology, on how to get a star hairstyle without complicating your life and with very few products. Don't miss his 5 essential tips, in his own words, below:

1. The key is to start with a good drying. After washing and conditioning your hair, remove excess moisture with a towel. Apply a heat protection spray ([I recommend] R & Co Prep Spray). Those with very dry hair can use a leave-in conditioner. Blow-dry hair, then use clips to divide hair.

2. When making the sections it is best to start from the layers from bottom to top, clockwise. Separate in 1 to 1 1/2 inch sections from root to tip using a natural bristle brush, they are best for smoothing hair without drying the cuticle. My favorite is called Ibiza. After drying all the sections, apply a smoothing serum, for the finest hair, or argan oil for the driest hair, from medium to ends.

3. With dry and hydrated hair the next step is to create texture with the waves. I love Instyler Cerasilk Curling Iron tweezers because their technology protects hair from heat, maintains a constant temperature and is very easy to use at home. Start by separating it into sections of an inch or so- You should make thicker locks to make looser waves and thinner locks to make more pronounced curls-. Thread each strand around the ceramic bar and remember that the longer you leave it in the heat, the kinkier it will be. I like a soft wave and to get it I leave it curled for between 7 and 10 seconds. Once all the hair is wavy, comb it with your hands to give it a more natural air. Finish with a touch of lacquer ([I recommend that of] Oribe) to get more volume and that's it!
