Panama-born actress and Pond's signature ambassador Jordana Brewster, known for participating in the Fast & Furious film series among other productions, is always on the best-dressed list for her simple and elegant style. But in addition to her looks, we envy how her skin looks, always impeccable, smooth, soft and with a light tan. So we interviewed the mother of two children who told us all her secrets to stay current in the demanding atmosphere of Hollywood.
Your mom was a model, did you learn any of her beauty tricks?
My mother was a model and Brazilian. The Brazilians take care of themselves so much and so well… I don't go to that extreme because I am very basic, but my mother is perfect, she always has makeup, she always looks impeccable. Something she said to me from the beginning was 'don't go to bed without removing your makeup, always take good care of your skin because that way you won't have to do anything drastic later'. I am very happy to have listened to you.
Would you say that is your best beauty secret?
I think so, and also that what you put into your body affects how you feel. So I try to drink a lot of water, I avoid salt, because I really notice it when I'm not eating healthy.
How is your routine?
After a morning run I wash my face with Pond's Cold Cream cleanser or wipes if I don't have time, and use a light moisturizer. There are times when I don't even need it. Once a month I get a facial. Other of my favorite products are a self-tanning gel by Chocolate Sun, the Beach Stick by Charlotte Tilbury and the Luminous Silk base by Armani.

You said that your mother is Brazilian and you lived there for several years. How does that Latin heritage show up in your life?
Of many ways. The fact that I am so close to my family. I speak to my mother and sister several times a day. In food, I make sure that my children eat vegetables. I also try to speak Portuguese during the weekends. I think it influences my values, it influences me in many ways. Now I want my children to travel and have experiences and not be isolated growing up in the United States.
You have two children and are now in two television series, Secret and Lies and Lethal Weapon. How do you find the balance?
With much help! When I was in school, I was very organized, I had an agenda, a calendar … so I went back to that a bit. I have a calendar and each [family member] is a color. I have to have very organized the schedule of each one. Otherwise, you forget things! But my whole family is in Los Angeles and that helps a lot. My mother, my father, my sister … there is always someone who can take care of children.
Has motherhood changed you?
It has somehow made me more human. The priority is my children. That makes things clearer for me too, which is very refreshing. Even today that I am working I was facetimeing with [my son] Julien. It is the best.
Is working in Hollywood an environment that demands a lot from women?
Men are lucky because when they get older they are considered charming or attractive. Expectations for women are always higher, you always have to look a certain way and it can be exhausting.

Beach Stick, in Ibiza, by Charlotte Tilbury.
How do you deal with that
Compensating as much as I can. The days I don't work I wear zero makeup, I don't worry about it, I go out with friends who don't care about those things and that separates the days I have to be on set, in hair and makeup which is a lot of fun too, but you have to find balance.
You started young in acting, how have you stayed so long in the race?
That has always been my fear because I have nothing else. Although I went to school, and I have an English Degree, I had nothing practical. So my goal has always been to work consistently, it wasn't how popular I can become, but I have to be consistent and now I'm 36 and I'm still working, so far so good.
Do you prefer movies or television?
Now I like television more because there is so much good material. I just started seeing Westworld and I can't believe how good it is. Especially for women, very good material. It is an exciting place to be now.
What would be your dream role?
I like roles that are a bit more complicated, like The Characters in The Affair or Bloodline because [the protagonist] is very human. Sometimes as women we play the bride, or the heroine, or the woman and she is either perfect or completely flat. It is great to see a balance in which you can see yourself reflected in those characters.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to exercise, meditate, read, decorate and organize the house. My husband and I just built a house for ourselves. It has taken us two years but we have designed many things. Really fun and creative.
A message you would like to give to young girls
They are growing up in a very exciting time. Be as clear to yourself about what you want and ask yourself about it as much as possible instead of trusting other people.
