Lady Gaga Loves Hats By Mexican Designer Gladys Tamez

For the cover of her new album Joanne, Lady Gaga opted for a photo of herself in a striking pink hat and the positive comments were immediate. Since then the singer has been seen wearing spectacular hats that have made many envious. The best of all? The person in charge of making them is nothing more and nothing less than the Mexican designer Gladys Tamez, for whom it has been quite a compliment to be able to work with the famous singer.

“We met through a mutual friend. Our collaboration was step by step. First I made him some funny hats”, explains the creator, whose hats are now on everyone's lips. “Little by little I started to give him more hats. Eventually she was already going to her home in Malibu with baskets full of hats to try on. It was very exciting for me to collaborate with such a daring, fun, talented, intelligent and inspiring person who has so much knowledge of the fashion world. It is truly an honor.”

Tamez's designs have also been worn by other celebrities such as Beyoncé, Johnny Depp, and Madonna.

"I have been very fortunate that people really value our work," she explains. Our hats are worn by celebrities, people in the fashion industry, bloggers and image consultants.”

The hats are handmade, taking care of every detail and using the best materials to make each piece something special and unique. Her designs, inspired mostly by her Latin roots, monopolize looks for their originality and some of them for their extravagance.

"I grew up in a family with a bullfighting tradition and have always been fascinated by the elaborate details of the bullfighters' costumes and their symbolism," says Tamez. "I used to wear my dad's hats with my clothes and he had a great collection,"

Although the hats from her latest collection, available at Gladystamez.com, range from the one worn by Gaga in her presentation at the Victoria's Secret show, the designer does not rule out making an accessible collection.

"I would be willing to do it," she says.
