This Is How Lin Manuel Miranda's Family Looked At The Tony Awards

The night of delivery of the Tony Awards was unforgettable for the play Hamilton and for its creator the Puerto Rican artist Lin Manuel Miranda, who was accompanied by his wife Vanessa Nadal and his mother, Luz Miranda for such an important occasion.

To get Lin Manuel's arm to such an important award, the proud companions took care of every detail of their outfit and chose the Dominican designer Cenia Paredes to make them the costume of their dreams.

"[Vanessa] came to my showroom and I already had a spectacular print for her, but I didn't know if she would like it," says the designer, whose studio is in New York City. "I showed him several drawings and showed him the one with the last print and he said, 'that's the one I want.' She chose the one I had visualized for her”.

For his part, Nadal was very satisfied with the design and that was reflected in his time on the carpet.

"She is clearly the type of designer who understands and is inspired by the client's aesthetics, and knows how to work with the body of a real woman," says Nadal. "I am fascinated by the result, which is not only visually spectacular but [also] structurally intricate."

Luz Miranda was also satisfied with the red dress she wore on such an important night for her family, where the work created and starring her son took 11 awards.

“The inspiration for the dress came from two photos I took of two ice skaters at last year's Winter Olympics. I thought they would be beautiful dresses”, explains Miranda. “I sent the photos to Cenia and she made an amalgamation of the two dresses and took [the suit] to another level. She made a museum-worthy dress with a subtle touch of sensuality.”

Like every proud mom, Luz spared no praise for her son and his masterpiece.

“Last night was very special because throughout the year there has been an acknowledgment about the art piece that is Hamilton. The Tony Awards is the highest recognition, which was initially given with the 16 nominations, he says. “Being part of the Broadway theater community has always been Lim Manuel's dream. Seeing that our son was able to achieve his dream is something wonderful for our family.”
