The plus size model with Puerto Rican roots Lornalitz Báez is causing a sensation in the modeling world for her beauty, charisma and self-confidence. We talked to her about her career, her secret so as not to listen to the criticism and the fashion and beauty secrets that always make her look spectacular.
Báez, who has appeared on magazine pages and modeled Jennifer Lopez's clothing collection, will hit the screens this fall with Queen Latifah's new reality show.
Lornalitz, how did your modeling career start?
Modeling was something I wanted to do since I was a child. I remember that I loved being photographed and I always liked to know the different fashion trends. What draws me [to this] now is the idea that my story inspires many women and girls. I am a curvaceous woman, very proud, who promotes feeling comfortable in her own skin. I promote healthy curves, acceptance and happiness.
How do you deal with people who criticize?
I don't pay attention to negative comments. I erase that or I remove it from my life quickly”
What parts of your body do you like to highlight?
I love my legs, my hips, and my butt, so I wear tight-fitting jeans, body-hugging dresses, and short or midi skirts.
What pieces should a plus size girl have in her closet?
A tailored jacket that accentuates your waist. A knee length dress is an indispensable piece in any curvy woman's closet. It does not matter if it is size 4 or 14. Also, high-waisted jeans lengthens the legs and accentuates the hips”
How do you maintain such radiant skin?
Skin care is very important to me. Traveling too much dehydrates your skin and makeup and studio lights can harm you. To moisturize, after sunscreen, I use Olay's Instant Hydration Day Cream, and to remove my makeup I use Mario Badescu's Glycolic Foaming Cleanser.”
Do you have a homemade beauty trick?
Yes, I mix an avocado, an egg, and a tablespoon of olive oil, and apply it to my wet hair after shampooing. I leave it for 30 to 60 minutes and then rinse it off. This helps dry and processed hair."
