Irma is the largest recorded hurricane in the Atlantic. As the cyclone makes landfall in Miami - a city from which 650,000 people have been evacuated - next Saturday, Toni Costa, Adamari López and their little Alaïa try to give bad weather a good face and that's why they decided to take a dip in their swimming pool. "While the bloody hurricane is coming, we are here," says Toni Costa in a video shared through Instagram.

Many have not taken Irma's next visit with such calm, because in addition to having been evacuated, there is a latent fear that the hurricane will destroy their homes.

And it is not for less to feel terror. Irma reached the south of the Bahamas with maximum winds of 260 kilometers per hour. According to the director of the United States Emergency Management Agency, Brock Long, the cyclone will be "really devastating".

On passing through Antigua and Barbuda, according to information from the El País newspaper, Irma affected 95% of the houses and 30% were destroyed. 90% of the roads are destroyed.

In San Martín, there is no drinking water or electricity and most of the territory is isolated. 70% of the houses are also devastated.

For its part, Saint Bartholomew does not have running water and electricity. Heavy damage is anticipated in the Bahamas as the eye of the hurricane will pass very close to that archipelago.

In the Dominican Republic, more than 19 thousand people were evacuated and more than 100 houses were destroyed. In Puerto Rico, more than a million people have been left without electricity and drinking water.
