A Couple Welcomes Identical Triplets

Ambar Hills has just become a mother for the first time and happiness came triple for her a week ago.

The new mother of identical triplets, a situation that occurs in one of a million cases, says that neither the idea of becoming a mother at a young age, nor the fact that there would be three new members of the family were reasons for make her nervous.

I was totally calm. It must be mom's hormones or something like that,”she told the Today (NBC) show a week later giving birth to her daughters through a cesarean section.

But her boyfriend Logan Brown-Fletcher did not feel the same way at first.

"I was a little scared, but once they got there I felt ready," said the father, who stressed that neither he nor his 19-year-old girlfriend had fertility treatment.

The wedding couple, who met Newberg, Oregon high school, is now in charge of, by birth order, Raelyn (who weighed in at 2 pounds and 12 ounces), Avery (3 pounds, 11 ounces), and Elaina (2 pounds and 15 ounces).

The girls are identical triplets, conceived without any fertility treatment, which is unusual. According to the doctors in her care, the odds of this case would be "somewhere around one in a million."

The Dr. Mark Tomlinson, the obstetrician who worked with the couple, said these triplets are "rarer type" and something new even for him.

"I've never seen this type of triplet before," he observed in surprise.
