Telemundo announced the return of La Reina del Sur 2 Special Edition, one of the most iconic series in America starring international star Kate del Castillo, on Tuesday April 21 at 10 pm/9C. La Reina del Sur 2 is the # 1 super series on Hispanic television that revolutionized the genre and captivated a worldwide audience. This international success is back in a Special Edition to relive the historic television event with images and scenes never seen before. Viewers who missed the action-packed drama the first time will have a chance to experience the excitement as Teresa Mendoza reclaims her power and fights for the greatest love of her life.
Filmed in eight countries, The Return of The Queen of the South takes up the story of the powerful drug trafficker Teresa Mendoza eight years after she disappeared into the hands of the US federal witness protection program after sinking Mexican presidential candidate Epifanio Vargas. Now she leads a completely anonymous life in Italy, like María Dantes, while raising her daughter Sofía in the Tuscan town of Massa Marittima. However, her life will take an unexpected turn and she will have to do everything possible to regain her throne as The Queen of the South.

Created by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, La reina del sur is written by Roberto Stopello, Juan Marcos Blanco, Miguel Ferrari and José Miguel Núñez. Marcos Santana is the executive producer and showrunner of the series along with Martha Godoy, from Telemundo, and Rodrigo Guerrero, from AG Studios, as executive producers. The second season of La reina del sur is a co-production by Telemundo Global Studios and Netflix.
