You Can Now Message With President Obama On Facebook

You are now able to send a message to President Barack Obama via Facebook Messenger, announced The White House.

There's no catch. Facebook users can visit The White House's Facebook page, press the “message” icon, and say what they want to the President. Only thing that the sender must provide is a US address, and if you're not in the US, an email address will be accepted.

Although the President reads 10 letters a day from citizens, forms of communication are changing and The White House wants to keep up. “Our goal is to meet people where they are,” said Jason Goldman, White House chief digital officer.

The President even shared a few words on the importance of this new form of contact with him.

“To make sure that in all the hustle and bustle that's taken place here, we don't lose sight of why we're here - which is a bunch of citizens all across the country, needing our help, seeking advice, more than occasionally being angry, wanting to be heard,”said Obama.

He continued, “And what's interesting is not only do these letters help me to stay in touch with the people who sent me here, or the people who voted against me, but a lot of times they identify problems that might not have percolated up through the various agencies and bureaucracies. And more than once there have been occasions where these letters inspired action on real problems that are out there.”

This isn't the first social media move made by The White House. Since last year, The President joined Twitter and The First Lady, Michelle Obama, opened a Snapchat account.
