It's time to start only wearing pink on Wednesdays again, as it's been announced that Mean Girls is being adapted into a Young Adult novel.
It feels like we're in the midst of a full Mean Girls revival at the moment. Not only have stars of the iconic teen movie been sharing their own plots for a possible sequel and been chatting about how they'd love to have a reunion, but the movie's creator and screenwriter, Tina Fey, confirmed that a musical version was on the way. What's more, we now even know * when * the musical is premiering (it's October 31st - although it should totally be October 3rd).

Well, it seems that this Mean Girls hysteria shows no signs of slowing down, as the movie is now being adapted for the first time into a Young Adult novel, and we can't wait to read it
According to Entertainment Weekly (who also have a taste of the first chapter), the novel will be based on Tina Fey's original screenplay, and will be adapted and written by author Micol Ostow.
The book will tell the story of Cady Heron and the Plastics from different character's point of views (interesting), and is set for release this September.
"Cady Heron grew up homeschooled in Africa with scientist parents as her teachers, monkeys as her classmates and the African plains as her playground. But when her family moves to the suburbs of Illinois, she finds herself a stranger in a strange land: high school, " the blurb reads.
"With no prior research to guide her, Cady's forced to figure out North Shore High all on her own. Suddenly she finds herself sucked into Girl World as a new member of the social elite dubbed" The Plastics. "Cady discovers that unlike the wild, Girl World doesn't have any rules-especially when you maybe, possibly, okay definitely, have a giant crush on their ruthless leader's ex-boyfriend. Turns out, life in high school might be even more brutal than a showdown on the Savannah."

OMG - we're so excited to get our hands on this book and revisit North Shore High School. What's more, we totally think that the novel will re-introduce Mean Girls to whole new generation, and that can only be a good thing.
Mean Girls the novel is set for release on September 12th, and will be published via Scholastics.
