Jessica Alba changed the vibe at the Teen Choice Awards to deliver a powerful message. The actress stood on stage with the family members of loved ones who lost their lives to recent gun violence in the United States.

“Now more than ever we need to stop, feel and ask 'What's going on?',” Said the actress before singer Ne-Yo performed “What's Going On” by the late Marvin Gaye.

“Tonight we stand together with these teens united in a call for peace and an end to this violence,” Alba said. “These teens had the courage to come here and share their grief, and take a stand. Tonight Ne-Yo and I and all of us here, and all of you watching need to do the same.”

Among the teens standing onstage was the son of the late Alton Sterling, who was shot by Baton Rouge Police, the big brother of one of the little boys killed in the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting, and the sister to one of victims from the Orlando shooting.

Alba and Ne-Yo urged audience members and viewers to use social media to "stop the violence."

"Take a picture of all of these courageous teens standing here, asking for the violence to stop, then post with the hashtag #stoptheviolence, thank you," she said.
