Denise Bidot has always believed that “There is no wrong way to be a woman” and now it's the name of her new movement. The plus-size model has also joined Unilever to celebrate their campaign # 100PorCientoTú, which is all about self-expression and individuality. With all these powerful projects, we had the opportuntity to talk to Bidot who shared her thoughts on being unique, why she loves being Latina, and much more.

Partnership with Live Better

“My entire career I've stood strongly in the fact that individuality and diversity are such huge things that we not only need to see more of but embrace, especially in the Latin community. So when I was approached to be a part of the # 100PorCientoTú campaign, it seemed like a seamless partnership. I've always fought for there is no wrong to be a woman and here is a huge platform to embrace that along with Unilever, Live Better, and all of these brands that I grew up with up in my household.”

There is No Wrong Way to be a Woman

“It's a platform for women to feel comfortable in their own skin. I wanted to celebrate woman altogether. We've all been dealt different cards and I think it's time to flip the table and listen to the women and allow them to have a voice.”

On Being Latina

“There's something so beautiful about being Latina. Not only the food, but the culture. I feel like my family and my roots, that's what makes me me. There is such a support system. If I'm ever having a down day, I know that I could always call my grandmother and I know she's going to be like, “My love, this is your moment, keep going. "There are certain things culturally that we're just filled with love and passion"

One-of-a-kind Advice

“I kind of love the idea that we're all out there different, individuals. I remember so many times growing up, just kind of sticking out and if I would've known that those would've been the things that would not only make me stand out as a kid but also stand out as an adult. I encourage diversity, I encourage feeling good in your skin… it's all about happiness, it's all about knowing who you are and living fully in that. For those girls out there who are struggling to figure out who they are, ignore everything- you don't need to fit in, you don't need to fit into a category.”

Holy Grail Product

“Coconut Oil- I swear to you, it's the one thing that I could not live without. I use coconut oil for everything. My hair has changed colors a lot in the last couple of years. I've always been kind of a rebel in the fashion community- I've gone from blonde to gray to highlights to short and long. If it wasn't for that coconut oil, I might have zero hair.”

Summer Beauty Essentials

Dove beauty bar, eyelash curler and Ponds cleansing cream.

Fashion Summer Staples

Strappy heels, fun floral dresses, high-waist jeans. (Tip: If you tuck your shirt in, you look workshop.)

It's All About Comfort

“At the end of the day, it's not necessarily about what you're wearing, it's about how you feel and how you rock it. I encourage every woman to live comfortably in her skin and try on every style of jean. Put on and get whatever makes you feel comfortable. If you're comfortable walking down the street you will look like a superstar. It's really how you feel that makes people see you in a different way.”
