Until now, cognitive attention was thought to be the biggest problem caused by lack of sleep. Both at work and in life, the lack of a restful sleep is a real scourge in the lives of insomniacs.

The test was conducted with 138 people, among whom 77 were deprived of sleep: "Our research shows that not sleeping triples the chances of attention spans, something surprising," said one of the study's co-authors, Kimberley Fenn.. "People who do not sleep well have to be very careful in everything they do, they cannot be trusted to think that they will not make serious mistakes, such as driving behind the wheel … Because they are mistakes that can have very serious consequences."

“Some people cope with sleep deprivation better than other routine things, for example, a doctor taking the vital signs of a sick person. However, our study suggests that if the same doctor has to carry out an operation, which involves many more steps, it is a very risky task for someone who did not get enough sleep.”
