The editor of People en Spanish Armando Correa will present tomorrow, May 7, his new book The daughter forgotten, a story based on real fact which connects Berlin in 1939 with the France of 1944 and the City of New York in 2015. "The Forgotten daughter is a book that transports us to another era and robs us of sleep, reminding us that a mother's love can against everything, and that on the darkest nights a ray of light always filters, "says the writer Mirta Ojito, who will interview Correa during his presentation in South Florida. "Basically, the book is a song of love and life."
This is the second book in a trilogy that started with The German Girl, a novel about more than 900 Jewish refugees who traveled on the Saint Louis ship from Europe to the port of Havana, where the authorities denied them entry despite having obtained visas. before setting sail.
In The Forgotten Daughter, Correa takes up the story of the passengers who were forced to return to Europe to face another atrocity in France through the story of Amanda Sternberg. The plot, inspired by real events, focuses on this German Jew who fled the Nazis with her two daughters during World War II and on Elise Duval, 80, who is forced to reconcile with her past after receiving in the Current New York letters in German written by her mother. "Armando has always been a good writer with a deep knowledge of the language and its power," emphasizes Ojito. "With this book, his second novel, he is established as one of the best contemporary writers, regardless of language."
This Tuesday, Correa will have the presence of faithful readers as well as celebrities such as Emilio Estefan, Adamari López, Pamela Silva Conde and Rashel Díaz, among others, at the Coral Gables Congregational Church, where Ojito will be the master of ceremonies beginning at 7:30 pm "I am honored to present it in Miami and I am sure we will have a great time," concludes Ojito of the event sponsored by Books & Books.
