Climbing to the top of the urban music genre is not easy for a woman, Dominican singer Natti Natasha will be the first to admit. “There was a time in my life when I did knock on doors and they told me: 'Women are not going to achieve anything,' and dealing with that answer and understanding, having the confidence at that time to say: 'This is not real, I will keep working and my work will be a message, 'that made me keep fighting,”the reggaetón princess, who is featured in People en Español' s 50 Most Beautiful issue, tells the magazine.

Her hard work has paid off. The 32-year-old has become new urban music royalty, along with singers Karol G, Becky G and Anitta, all of whom she has hit duets with. Far from feeling competitive jealousy, she says she's thrilled to see other women succeed. "My experience working with women has been wonderful," she says. “We each have something to bring to the table. We enjoy these collaborations, we smile, we give each other tips, we make things more fun, we grow to a new level professionally and personally when we decide to break those barriers,”she adds about putting rivalry and cattiness aside.

Her album IlumiNATTI includes duets with Brazilian star Anitta and Puerto Rican songstress Kany García. "They are two women that I feel are very powerful," she says. "I have learned a lot from them. I feel that they are very real.” Her songs are also real, taking about love, heartbreak and sex without filter, she admits. "I feel great having that freedom of expression."

With her concerts around the world and performances at award shows, is there room for love? Natti Natasha (whose real name is Natalia Gutierrez) seems to love single life at the moment. “It's time to enjoy what I've worked for and to keep working. I'm not stopping at all!” she says. When she does get a little free time, she enjoys hitting the gym and music studio-yes, you heard right! In the morning I'll go to the gym. I like to walk to start my day, that's my spa, my relaxation time. My hobby is still going to the studio, even if I spend 24 hours a day there sometimes. It's my creative moment and I feel that's where the magic happens!”
