Pablo Lyle Reiterates That He Acted In Self Defense

Actor Pablo Lyle argues in a petition to a Florida appeals court that he was "afraid to die" when he hit a driver in the middle of a traffic fight, killing him.

According to documents revealed by the television program Suelta la sopa (Telemundo), the Mexican actor's team of lawyers assures in the petition to the Florida Third District Court of Appeals that a mistake was made when his request to dismiss the case based on the right to self-defense.

In the documents, the lawyers of the protagonist of the soap opera My adorable curse ask that the decision of the judge Alan Fine of last August in which the actor is denied the right to take advantage of the state law Stand Your Ground that allows the use of lethal force in self-defense.

They assure that the “unequivocal” and “undeniable” position of danger in which he and his family found themselves in the traffic altercation in which Juan Ricardo Hernández, 63, lost his life, was not taken into account.

Defenders of Pablo, 33, allege that the court ignored the presumption that Lyle used violence as a defense and in response to "reasonable fear of death or serious harm to him and the other five members of his family" that were in the vehicle.

They add that his defendant did not know what Hernández was going to do when he returned to his vehicle, questioning whether he could have had a gun to shoot or use his vehicle to collide with him. His family was where "the children were crying" terrified by the situation.

It was on Sunday March 31, 2019 when a vehicular altercation became a tragedy that would mark a before and after in the lives of those involved. The actor and his family were on their way to the airport when they met Juan Hernández, with whom the actor and his brother-in-law had an argument. Pablo, who was co-pilot, hit the man who was unconscious and died after several days in the hospital due to the blow.

On January 22, a hearing was held in which Judge Marlene Fernández-Karavetsos denied her request that Pablo could travel to Mexico. However, she granted her that she could move freely around Miami, always carrying her geolocation device.

The next hearing to follow up on the case is scheduled for March 20.
