For José José's two oldest children, Marysol and José Joel, they suffered a lot for not seeing their father since his departure to Miami last year. Everything indicated that the singer had no interest in seeing them; however, it is revealed that the Prince of the song died very sad for not having been with them and not knowing his youngest granddaughter, first-born of the first.

"He loved his children from Mexico," Rey Bárbaro, a close friend of the singer and his Miami family, explained to the Mexican television program Ventaneando (TV Azteca). "I know that he died with the pain of not being able to see Marysol, of not being able to see Pepito [José Joel]."

According to the also singer, the interpreter of "El triste" did not want to talk about the reasons why he did not meet with his children and treated him in a very hermetic way.

"When José Joel came to Homstead I was not there, I was in New York," he explained. “When the daughter came, on one occasion to Miami, to tell her that she was going to be a mother, I spoke with José personally, in the hospital.
