The last two years of Lili Estefan's life have been the most difficult on a personal level due to the separation process that she lived with the father of her children, Lorenzo Luaces. On the professional level it has been the opposite, starting with the Emmy that the presenter of El Gordo y la Flaca (Univision) won two years ago, the same day that her marriage breakup was revealed, until her last dream come true: her debut in Hollywood with Zombieland: Double Tap.
What else would you like?
“Make the whole movie, be the star of a movie, why not? A star in Hollywood, and I'm missing Broadway, getting on stage and doing something on Broadway; Yes, there are many things that can really be done,”the green-eyed woman told MezcalTV.
What have you learned from this experience?
“That everything is achievable in life, even what you least imagine. I can already tell that Hollywood is just around the corner.”
All these achievements come to contrast what he describes as the tragedy that he has lived for two years, since the most important thing for “La Flaca” is the family. “The day I feel like I have had the lowest moment in my personal life, I have had the highest moment in my career. That day that my heart was … and at the moment, it is the day that I win the Emmy, so this film I think has been part of these last two years, interviewing Michelle Obama, animating a Premio Lo Nuestro, like I have been touched to do the things that I never thought I was going to do, as they are already half ruled out, and for now the show begins.”
And now that you can see it in perspective, what have you learned or how have you grown with this moment of crisis? What would you say to other women who are going through a divorce?
“What I have learned the most is that there are no victims. You have to always look at the positive, you can never get hooked on that last thing that happened, the negative. I think you have to look at the positive, and this is how I see the father of my children: I try to look for the positive part in everything that we have lived and have done, which seems to be destroyed, but for some reason I want to think not” he pointed out. “When you have to deal with things you never imagined, the one who gets angry loses. And what I have learned the most I think is that the friends, the support that I have had in my friends… cultivate friendship”.
Is there a possibility of reconciliation with Lorenzo?
Oh no! I don't know that! Look, if I didn't rule out the possibility of Hollywood and it came, I don't know, I never want to say 'never of this', I don't know,”he said. “I love the father of my children very much, despite everything that has happened and what is happening. We had a wonderful life, we had 25 perfect years, we have things that I can say on a comic level, we got married before a cyclone and we separated after a cyclone. Very ironic in the way that I can explain what has happened to me, but I follow, I continue and with a lot of faith”.
