Juanes, who will receive the recognition of "The person of the year" in the next Latin Grammy, said he was very grateful for these awards and had no qualms about commenting on the reggaeton players' complaints that they do not feel sufficiently recognized.

"The Grammys became a door that opened opportunities for me," the Colombian told People en Español. "I feel honored".

Who does not feel like this are his fellow reggaeton fans, who put together the #sinreggaetonnohaylatingrammy campaign on social networks after some stars of the genre, such as Daddy Yankee, Nicky Jam or Maluma, complained that the entity that organizes the awards, the Academy Latin Recording, does not take them sufficiently into account.

“It is important that the conversation take place. It seems positive to everyone, but what I would think is that all urban genders must register at the Academy in order to vote, said Juanes. “If they are not the ones who defend their gender, it will be nobody. So, first, they should register, vote and be more active.”

The interpreter of "The Black Shirt" also asked the Academy to review if there is anything to change in its procedures.

"You have to see if there is something that has been overlooked, obviously it is a very important genre and there are people who deserve to be treated as another genre of music," he says. "I don't think that because it is so popular you have to treat it on top of everyone, I believe that simply if there are errors in the process that is solved, you have to have a healthy and good conversation for everyone."
