During the day she is an executive, a business woman, with an appetite for art, however, her passion for tango and managing to unite cultures through art led her to create Tango Lovers with her husband.
Pierina Asti-Schulz, the creator and executive director of the 'I AM TANGO' program by TANGO LOVERS spoke with People en Español about some of the details of the creation of her project.
“Tango is perhaps a globalized art and it has survived over the years. It is due to the different fusions it has had and the show is precisely about that: to show tango how it has survived to these times. I'm the author of the script called 'I AM TANGO'”, Asti-Schulz exclusively told People en Español.
How was the beginning of 'I am Tango'?
We created it between my husband and me. We met here in Miami and one day I heard my husband singing tangos and he clicked on me because I had just arrived from Argentina from a business trip, coincidentally, and I saw that tourists liked tango a lot. When we started, he started small and then I grabbed all my masters and turned him around.
How many people make up the production of the show?
I am the executive producer of the show and the author of the script and my husband sings and is the general director of the show, but we are a total of 26 people.
What is it like to work as a couple and what challenges have you had between couples?
It is not easy, being a couple and living together every day. We will always have discrepancies and try to handle discrepancies as husband and wife. They may be artistic or business discrepancies and are not treated in the same way as two non-partners would treat them. It gets a little complicated, but we always come to an agreement to do our best. I think we have been quite successful.
The show 'I AM TANGO' by TANGO LOVERS will have several presentations in the United States. Do not miss the opportunity to see this show. Get your tickets at
