A young mother in Texas has made an impact by appearing smiling from ear to ear in her arrest photo after being detained in Copperas Cove for leaving her baby locked in her car so she can go take some shots at the bar.

Amidst grunts, curses, and profanity, 26-year-old Samantha Grace Vaughan was apprehended by officers who detained her when she discovered her sleeping son inside her car while she was at the bar.

The events occurred around 1:45 am this Sunday at the Trackside store located at block 300 of Joe's Road.

Officers found the woman's son sleeping alone in his infant seat inside the car whose engine was running, according to reports KWTX-10, a CBS affiliate in Waco.

When she was detained, the woman flogged herself on the ground and intentionally hit her face against the patrol, causing a wound to her forehead that can be seen in her arrest photo. Still, she appeared very smiling:

At the time of the arrest, the police perceived "a strong smell commonly associated with the consumption of an alcoholic beverage emitted by him," according to an affidavit issued on Monday.

When questioned, the woman admitted that she had taken “two shots”. On top of that, Vaughn started yelling and cursing saying, among other things, "you are not going to take my son with a damn black!", The document indicates.

The woman's alcohol level was equal to 0.148. In Texas the legal limit for driving is 0.08. Vaughan faces charges of neglect / risk of hurting a child with the intention of returning.
