Last Sunday, July 28, it will be recorded as one of the greatest days in the history of Latin American and Colombian sports, after a young man, named Egan Bernal and only 22 years old, managed to win the Tour de France.

117 years and 106 editions had to pass for the first time a Hispanic managed to take the precious yellow shirt that distinguishes him as the best rider in the world. But who is this young man who is stealing the admiration of millions and who is also the youngest rider in the last 110 years to win the Tour?

Egan was born in the small city of Zipaquirá, located just kilometers north of Bogotá, and from an early age he began to demonstrate that he would be a champion with his bicycle, despite the fact that his beginnings in cycling made him a very different: the mountaineering cycle.

After surprising with victories in multiple road cycling events in the world, 2018 became the year he made his debut in the Tour de France, being part of the ranks of the powerful Sky team, which had among its ranks Geraint Thomas and Chris Froome - winner of the competition on multiple occasions.
