A small boy suffered several injuries when falling on a band that transports luggage at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, according to the images of the security cameras that captured the fact - and have gone viral.

The video shows how the boy is carried by the gang through several restricted areas of the airport, until two agents from the Transportation and Security Administration (TSA) find him in the luggage storage room, according to PEOPLE.

According to reports, the boy was on the luggage belt for about five minutes.

The boy's mother, Edith Vega, told police that her little boy disappeared when he took his eyes off "for a second" to print his boarding pass at a Spirit airline kiosk, according to the police report.

The boy was rushed to hospital after being treated by local emergency medical services because his hand was "severely swollen and bruised," NBC reported.

"He just went on the ride, I couldn't catch him," the mother told WSB-TV. "I wanted to jump [to the band] and try to grab it, but they wouldn't let me."

In a statement to CNN, the airline addressed the incident and said it is working with the security agency to confirm that the airport protocol was followed.

“A neglected child went through our registration section that had no staff assigned at the time. The little boy was able to access a luggage area … through a luggage band and suffered some injuries, "says part of the statement published by CNN. "We wish the child the best in their recovery."
