A mother accused of hitting her daughter with a wooden spoon, defends herself and explains her actions. The 9-year-old girl suffers from ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). "I just had a moment of frustration," the mother, identified as Tania, 35, told 7 News.
The woman hit the girl with a wooden spoon at her home in Perth in October. The woman was enraged to see that the girl had eaten meat that was for the dog. The girl showed bruises on her buttocks after the beating and the mother had to go to court for the incident. A judge found that the mother used unnecessary force on the girl and had to pay a fine of leaving the old hamburger meat she was going to give the dog. "I have been crying, trembling, mortified," said the mother of how the incident with her daughter affected her. Tania alleges that the incident was traumatic for her, but that she "would not have done anything different."
The girl was temporarily placed in the custody of the Department of Child Protection. Her lawyer said the mother did not have a criminal history and does not believe that Tania will repeat her actions. The case has caused outrage.
