Lorenzo Lazo Does Not Have Cancer

This week the journalist Mara Patricia Castañeda announced on the program Hoy (Televisa) that Edith González's widower, Lorenzo Lazo, suffered from stomach cancer. Days later Castañeda retracted it because according to her everything was false. "You have to have a face to apologize when something is not right," the former wife of Vicente Fernández Jr., told Andrea Legarreta during the broadcast of the morning program. "The sources were not correct."

Legarreta supported the journalist who is apparently the first mistake she has made in her thirty-year career. "Mr. Lorenzo Lazo is in complete health and I am happy," he said. "So I ask for a very sincere apology, just as we gave the news of [death] Edith González, you have to have a face to apologize."

González's death last week after losing a fight to cancer caused a roar in show business as she was one of the most beloved actresses. Just as it caused anguish to many, others like Niurka Marcos did not take away their sleep. "I put a candle on him, I prayed to him a Our Father, as all people who have faith do," said the vedette in an interview with the program El gordo y la flaca (Univision). "I called Juan Osorio and I said: 'I am very sorry because I know that she was a very dear friend to you', [I did that] because that is what corresponds to me because I was neither her intimate friend nor did I know the family or anything, and to say and do the opposite would be hypocritical and I hypocritical I will never be in life."

González is survived by her 14-year-old daughter Constanza and her husband.
