A survivor of a plane crash that claimed 41 lives in Russia complained about the selfish action of several passengers. "I don't know what to say about the people who ran from the plane with their suitcases," said survivor Mikhail Savchenko on Facebook. "God will be your judge." The fact that several passengers worried about taking out their luggage could delay the evacuation of other people trying to flee the burning plane.
On Sunday an Aeroflot Superjet 100 with 78 people on board traveling from Moscow to Murmansk experienced a mid-flight emergency that forced the pilot to return to the Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow. There the plane crashed upon landing and caught fire.
Many were able to escape through emergency exits, the BBC reported, but 41 people died. Passengers and crew members reported that the plane had been struck by lightning shortly after takeoff, multiple media reported. Savchenko added that perhaps these other passengers who waited to leave with their suitcases were not logically thinking of a moment of despair as it was a life and death situation.
