A Texas mother of three died after being hit by a rock that was thrown from an overpass and crashed into the windshield of her car while traveling with her boyfriend and children on Saturday night.

Keila Ruby Flores, 33, was sitting in the front passenger seat when the rock fell from the car's windshield, police said. Flores' boyfriend Christopher Rodríguez was driving at the time while his three children were sitting in the back, according to investigators.

The event took place at 8:40 pm when authorities answered a call. The 911 caller said a family of five was traveling north on Interstate 35 when someone threw a large rock from an overpass on the railroad track, according to police.

“Suddenly, something just hit the window. It was [like] an explosion, "Rodríguez told KWTX. "I look and see Keila and she is lying there without answering. I shook her and tried to wake her up. She did not answer".

Flores was taken to the hospital where she died shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Police said there is no suspicious information at this time, but they are investigating the incident as a homicide.

Rodríguez and the entire Flores family have requested the public's help to find the person or persons responsible.

Investigators are asking anyone with any information to contact the Temple Police Department, Texas at (254) 298-5500. Information may also be sent confidentially online to BellCountyCrimeStoppers.com.
