4-year-old Girl Dies After Being Kicked By Her Mother

Iris Hernández-Rivas, a young mother of 20, is in detention after the death of her 4-year-old daughter, whom she confessed to having kicked in the stomach before her death for not having brushed her teeth.

The woman, a resident of the state of Maryland, made an emergency call to the authorities after she found her little girl, Nohely Alexandra Martínez, unconscious in the bathtub of her home.

The little girl was rushed to a children's hospital in Washington DC, where she later died due to her serious condition. The little girl apparently had wounds on her head and several bruises on her little body, which raised suspicions with the authorities.

After being questioned by the officers in charge of the investigation, Hernández-Rivas confessed that the head injuries were the result of a hit against the wall suffered by the little girl, after she lost her balance when she kicked her in the stomach., as reported by Fox 5 DC

The mother also revealed that the bruises on her daughter's body are due to a beating that she had given her with a belt in previous days.

Although the causes of the girl's death have not yet been determined, authorities detained the girl, who is now facing charges of first-degree assault and child abuse.
