Again Nicolás Maduro has generated outrage with a video in which he appears dancing salsa and enjoying a concert, at the same time that the Venezuelan army violently repressed thousands of protesters in different parts of the country.
Last weekend the eyes of the entire world were on Venezuela and the social crisis facing the South American country because of the regime imposed by the Maduro government. A caravan of trucks with supplies and supplies to aid thousands of Venezuelans in need became the trigger for clashes between the armed forces and thousands of people pleading for the entry of humanitarian aid.
Despite the heavy fighting that broke out during the last days in different cities of Venezuela, which have left at least 29 people dead and more than 300 wounded, the images of Maduro enjoying a salsa concert in the city of Caracas and dancing with his wife Cilia Flores have generated all kinds of criticism against his government.
Two of the eight trucks with supplies for Venezuelans, which were part of the humanitarian caravan, were burned as they crossed the Francisco de Paula Santander international bridge that connects the border towns of Cúcuta and Ureña. In addition, with gases, bullets and shots, the Venezuelan army repressed the protesters who came to the scene. The chaotic confrontation left a devastating balance of destruction and death.
After the violent events that took place over the weekend, multiple leaders from the region, including United States Vice President Mike Pence, Interim President of Venezuela Juan Guaidó and Colombian President Iván Duque, have gathered in the city of Bogotá to evaluate the measures that can be taken against the Maduro regime.
