In January 2019, on the occasion of the staging of Hamiton, in Puerto Rico, the award-winning actor Lin-Manuel Miranda visited Walter Mercado at his home in San Juan. There they talked about the admiration of the Oscar winner by the astrologer and in turn, Mercado gave him one of his famous capes.
Mercado passed away this Sunday, November 3 at the age of 87. Here we remember this meeting of titans in exclusive chat with People en Español.

The passage of Lin-Manuel Miranda from Puerto Rico was full of very special moments. Not only did he make waves with his staging of Hamilton, but also the Puerto Rican actor of blood was able to fulfill one of his most expensive wishes: to meet Walter Mercado in person.
The meeting between the two was documented on networks by the 39-year-old actor himself. But now it is Walter himself who tells us his version of that unforgettable afternoon in San Juan that sparked, as stated by the leading astrologer of People en Español.
"He asked my producers that he wanted to see me," explains eMercado, 86, about the way the meeting went. “Since I was a boy I used to see myself on television. His mom was a fan of mine, his grandmother was a fan of mine. When he was a boy he used to say 'Shut up now my sign is coming!'”Says Walter about what the award-winning writer, actor and singer-songwriter told him.
“The first meeting was a surprise, a joy. I wanted to touch him, talk to him, shake his hand. He loves to be hugged. He is a human being full of love and above all love for Puerto Rico. That was a clash of the titans for me, an electric spark, a tsunami of love.”
By the way, Walter did not let Miranda say goodbye without giving him a gift and gave him a cape embroidered with the flag of his beloved homeland. "He showed off he walked with her, as well as a great actor."

Unfortunately, and although Walter was the guest of honor at Hamilton's staging, the astrologer had to settle for watching the dress rehearsal, as he currently suffers from severe sciatica and his activities have been limited. "I've been with this for a month now," he told us. "But on Monday they put a blockade on me and it's over."
"Hamilton was a total and absolute success in Puerto Rico, it was fabulous," continues Mercado. "He is Capricorn. He is highly motivated by family, country, feeling Puerto Rican and carrying the message to the world. What pushes him are the children, the family. He was born to be a superstar.
