Driver Kills 21-year-old Girl And Runs Away

Authorities in California are looking for a driver who fled after hitting and killing a 21-year-old Hispanic student. Angelina Pineda was across the street in Redondo Beach when she was fatally rammed on Saturday night. The student at the University of San Francisco was accompanied by her sister when the tragedy happened. Pinedo was dragged by the vehicle hundreds of feet before the driver got out of her car and then mounted again and fled the scene, leaving Pinedo dying on the street, KTLA witnesses said.

According to police, the young woman was walking down a crosswalk when the vehicle fatally hit her. Loved ones told KTVU that the young woman had spent her winter vacation at her family's home in Rosemead before returning to college on Monday. Unfortunately, I can no longer return to class or continue fighting for their dreams. "Her life was tragically taken from her in a way that Angelina did not deserve," her sister Martha Torres told the local station.

Pinedo was the youngest of six siblings, reports KTVU. Although her sister tried to give her first aid, Angelina died instantly. Several people ran to try to help her when she saw the tragedy. Police report that the suspect was driving a black Audi Q5 van with a plate containing "7MB," local stations KTVU, KTLA and KCAL9 report. The vehicle had a damaged hood and windshield. The young woman's family has created a GoFundMe account to help with her funeral expenses. "There are broken hearts," says a message on the GoFundMe page.
