The Japanese Akhiko Kondo had a unique wedding. His wife is an animated doll, a virtual hologram of a 16-year-old pop star known as Miku. The groom's family did not want to go to the wedding because they opposed the peculiar union.
Akhiko claims to "be in love for 10 years" with Miku, created by Crypton Future Media. Miku has turquoise pigtails and eyes and captivates with her enigmatic beauty. At the end of the wedding, Gatebox - the company that produces the hologram device on which Miku floats - gave the groom a “cross-dimension” marriage certificate.
The 35-year-old boyfriend confesses that in the past he had problems relating to human girlfriends and is happy with his virtual wife. The link was made in Tokyo and included husband and wife rings, photos and videos, like a traditional wedding.
Of course, Miku's mother-in-law is not very happy. "For my mother it was not something worth celebrating," the boyfriend confessed to Reuters.
"I think the way of happiness and love is different for each person," he added. Although it is usual for a man to marry a woman and have children, "this model does not necessarily make everyone happy," says Akhiko.
Japan is known for its passion for anime, but this wedding took many by surprise. Long live the bride and groom!
