The driver of the fatal limousine accident that happened last Saturday in upstate New York, Scott Lisinicchia, has been arrested twice in the past eight years on drug charges, including once during a traffic stop, the New York Post reports.

Lisinicchia, who was 53 when he died, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of marijuana, and equipment violation when he was arrested while driving in Saratoga Springs on November 22, 2013, the Saratogian reported the next day.

Lisinicchia was also charged with illegal possession of marijuana in Saratoga Springs on July 2, 2010, according to the same publication.

Limousine company owner Shahed Hussain served as an FBI informant in a 2009 terrorist plot targeting two synagogues in Riverdale and an Air National Guard base, The Post reported.

Records from the Federal Department of Transportation show that the Prestige Limousine Service, identified by Governor Andrew Cuomo as the company whose limo crashed on Saturday, is owned by Hussain.

On Monday, authorities told ABC News that Lisinicchia was behind the wheel of the limo that passed over a stop sign and entered the Apple Barrel Country Store & Cafe parking lot in Schoharie, New York.

The tragedy occurred this Saturday at 1:55 pm when the vehicle, in which the driver and 18 people were traveling, hit a road sign traveling at 60 miles per hour at an intersection in the town of Schoharie.

The limousine ran over two passersby who were passing the site, killing two of them. After the impact, the vehicle rolled into a ravine, where all those traveling inside it perished.

Lisinicchia and the 17 people in the limo were on their way to a brewery in Cooperstown for a passenger's birthday party.

The Saratoga Springs Municipal Court was closed on Monday for the Columbus Day holiday, and neither the city police department nor the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office was able to immediately provide additional information about Lisinicchia's arrests or how cases were resolved.
