A dangerous subject who had been working for the Border Patrol in Laredo, Texas for 10 years, was captured this Saturday after spreading terror in Webb County by committing a series of four murders in a span of two weeks.

Juan David Ortíz, 35, began his chain of crimes on September 3 when he blinded the life of a woman in Webb County. From there, he took the lives of three more women, all of them prostitutes, whom according to the authorities he picked up in his car and later executed them with a shot to the head.

Another woman, named Erika Peña, was saved from becoming her fifth victim by escaping the subject this Friday after he “picked her up” in his car and tried to kidnap her. According to the woman, the man pointed a gun at her, but she managed to flee at a gas station. The woman ran to another nearby gas station where she notified the urban security authorities about what had happened.

In this way they located Ortíz hiding in the garage of a nearby hotel located on Interstate 35 Utopian. The man did not resist and was arrested. Ortíz now faces four counts of first-degree murder, one count of aggravated assault, and one count of illegal detention.

Ortíz's victims include a mother of two and a transgender woman, authorities confirm. All victims were found in the same rural area near US Highway 83 in northwest county.

"The city can rest easy that we have this serial killer in custody," Webb elbow sheriff Martin Cuellar told The Laredo Times. According to an affidavit, the former agent has admitted all four murders and is now in the county jail. A press conference will be held this Monday in reference to the case.
