Exactly 17 years ago, the United States woke up to the bleak news of the most voracious terrorist attack seen in recent human history. 2,996 people lost their lives and more than 6,000 were injured as a result of the actions carried out by the extremist group al-Qaeda against the country.
On the same day one more year after the fateful September 11, 2001, a photograph of the World Trade Center taken from the sky has become a trend on social networks.
Media executive Peter Lattman could not resist sharing a beautiful photo on his networks that he managed to take just as he took off from one of the three airports in New York City. Between the spectacular view of the sunrise on a cloudy day, a particular detail would have passed over the horizon: the emblematic Freedom Tower or Freedom Tower.
"I just took off from Newark and there it is, the One World Trade Center just above the clouds," said Lattman, who has worked for major journalistic publications such as the New York Times, The Atlantic and the Wall Stret Journal.
The image has immediately become a trend in networks on this September 11, as curiously, the imposing building lies right where the Twin Towers were.
The New York sky certainly underwent a dramatic change after the 2001 terrorist attacks. Much of the city's Financial District area had to be rebuilt, and a beautiful memorial park now pays tribute to the thousands of people and families who lived. this tragedy that paralyzed the entire world.
