A 24-year-old white man died early Wednesday in Austin after an explosive was detonated inside his car when he was cornered by police.

The deceased is the main suspect in a series of bombings that terrorized the population of the Texas capital over the past two weeks. Two people lost their lives and two more were injured as a result of the detonation of five explosive devices in different parts of the city.

The suspect identified as Mark Anthony Conditt killed himself on Interstate 35, near Round Rock, north of Austin. According to authorities, they had been on his trail for a long time and had finally located him in a motel. When he left the scene, a short firefight ensued and the 24-year-old white suspect eventually detonated the explosive, killing him on the spot.

According to different sources, Conditt had been identified by the authorities when he was caught on camera at the FedEx company facilities where the last attack occurred. His suspicious history and recent transaction receipts he had made were the decisive clues to getting a fence. The man was located thanks to his mobile phone, which was located in the aforementioned motel located in Williamson County.

"We all breathed deeper this morning," Austin Mayor Steve Adler told CNN. "However, that respite is not entirely deep because the investigation continues."

Adler urged the population to remain vigilant against any suspicious objects while determining whether or not there are more explosives in the area.
