Canadian skier Chris del Bosco survived a chilling fall that left him out of the medal bracket at the Winter Olympics in South Korea with a fractured pelvis.

The incident happened this Wednesday when the 35-year-old athlete - originally born in the United States but nationalized Canadian - participated in the eighth finals of the ski cross tests.

Del Bosco was in penultimate place and forced to give everything for everything he applied enormous force in a climb where he lost control and despite struggling to correct his posture he fell on his right side.

The athlete was evacuated from Phoneix State Park on a stretcher after lying on the snow for at least 10 minutes. On leaving the slopes Del Bosco was making the "all good" signal with his thumbs.
