Firefighter Adopts The Girl Who Helped Her Be Born

Firefighters often star in stories of altruism, and this time, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a firefighter who helped a baby girl end up adopting her.

According to People, in November 2011, Marc Hadden answered a call in the emergency service, to go help a woman who was giving birth.

At that time Hadden never imagined that just 48 hours later he would help bring the beautiful girl into the world, whom they would call Rebecca Grace. "It was incredible to hear her cry," he recalls.

While in the hospital, she heard the mother of the newborn say that she could not take care of her daughter. Although Haddden and his wife already had two children (Will, 15, and Parker, 13), they had been left with the desire to enlarge the family and, in fact, had been trying to adopt for a long time, so he immediately expressed his desire to take care of the newborn.

His wife Beth says he will never forget the phone call he made to her from the hospital. She jokingly said to him, "I have given birth to a baby."

Jokingly, she replied, "Can we stay with her?"

"Well," he replied, "I think I could be up for adoption."

The next day the Good Samaritan's wife attended the hospital to meet the mother and her newborn daughter. "Suddenly, I had a chance to say that Marc and I had been praying for adoption for years," she recalls. "And she looked at me and said, 'I want you to adopt my baby.'

At the end of that day, the couple had signed temporary custody papers, and just 48 hours after her birth, they brought her home. And although that was six years ago, the family continues to captivate everyone with its incredible story of love and joy.
