Marisol Terrazas, a member of Horoscopos de Durango, has just joined the list of celebrities who report having been victims of sexual harassment at work.
Accompanied by her sister Vicky Terrazas and her lawyer, Omero Bañuelos, the singer met the media at a press conference at a Los Angeles hotel to report that a top executive in the music world had sexually harassed her.
She claimed that she had kept silent until now out of "respect" for her husband and her family, but the weight of the pain she was carrying was too strong to continue keeping the secret. "I want to say what happened to me and that by pity we cannot be living with that burden," he said.
His lawyer explained that for legal reasons they could not reveal the name of the alleged harasser at the moment, but as soon as possible they will spread his name.
The Mexican regional music singer seemed to indicate that the incident she mentioned was not the first of its kind, and even her sister could also have been a victim of harassment.
“Before we were more girls and although we were holding hands with my dad, things still happened. But now we are older and as this happened to me a little while ago, it was the drop that spilled the glass and we said why we are keeping quiet, he said.
With their statements, the Terrazas sisters are among the first Latino artists to join the allegations of sexual harassment that have been shaking the entertainment world since October, after more than sixty women denounced film producer Harey Weistein.
