Jacob Thompson, a 9-year-old cancer patient, wants to celebrate ahead of time what is supposed to be his last Christmas.
Thompson suffers from Neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer that develops in nervous tissue, starting at age 5, GoodHousekeeing.com explains. Since her condition is in an advanced stage, the child wants to experience the magic of Christmas without having to wait for December.
On the page that his mother, Michelle Thompson Simard, created on GoFundMe, the family explains that the minor was admitted to the hospital on October 11, but that the cancer is advanced, it spread to the head and other body parts. She even explains that the treatments they were giving her did not help to cushion the pain. Likewise, her mother reports that her hips are "dotted with tumors." That, according to Thompson Simard, affects their ability to move.
“His father Roger [Cool] and I were told that we should spend as much time as possible with him and that we should start making arrangements for his death. Jacob is expected to die within a month. Today Roger and I started making preparations for Jacob's funeral and we were stunned. Nobody thinks of having to make these kinds of plans for their children… We ask for help from friends and family in order to pay for this,”says Thompson Simard on the page.
Jacob has touched many lives. However, his family wants many to bring joy to his son on his last Christmas; without reaching December.
