Michelle Obama Gives Advice To Men

Yesterday in Chicago Michelle Obama drew laughter and applause with some suggestions that she gave to the men there, how they could live better.

In her speech during the first international Summit of the Obama Foundation, the former first lady of the United States commented that she believes that women are pampering and protecting men too much, while we are being raised to be "strong".

"It is as if the problem in today's world is that we love our boys and raise our girls," Obama said. "We raise them to be strong, and sometimes we take care not to hurt men, and I think we pay a little bit for that."

In that process, he said, we isolated them a bit and that is why he advised them: "You should get some friends." "And talk to each other, because that's the other thing that [women] do: we straighten each other out in some things, (talking) with our friends."

She also joked that sometimes she wished she could ask her husband, "Who are you talking to?" Reinforcing the idea that men should have someone to vent with.

Likewise, the speaker whose maiden name is Michelle LaVaughn Robinson asked if women protect men to the point where they feel "entitled" and "self-justified."

"Are we protecting our men too much to make them feel a little titled and … self-righteous at times? But that also affects us as women and mothers, as we nurture men and push girls to be perfect."

Last month, when Barack Obama announced that this summit would take place, to which he said that hundreds of leaders from around the world would attend "for a practical exchange of ideas," he assured that the participants would learn from each other so that when you return to their respective communities could "lead others in the hard work of change."
