Univision Criticizes Eduardo Yanez Violence Against Journalist

Almost 48 hours after Eduardo Yáñez slapped one of the El Gordo y la Flaca journalists, Univisión Noticias issued a statement censuring the violent attitude of the Mexican actor.

On Tuesday night, reporter Paco Fuentes of El gordo y la flaca was covering the red carpet of an event in Los Angeles and asked Yáñez his opinion on the fact that his son, EduardoYáñez Jr., had opened a page on GoFundMe to help you with the costs of a car accident. After answering him with a couple of bad words, the actor savagely assaulted him, leaving him stunned.

Today, the main media company serving the Hispanic community in the United States criticized its action, calling it an "act of violence." Univision also demanded "respect for the physical integrity of its reporters" and expressed "its total disapproval of any type of violence against them."

While it is not yet clear if the chain will file a lawsuit for this act, especially considering that after the blow, Fuentes remained inert, without responding to such an outrage, the same Univision portal made an account of Yáñez's violent history, which includes an alleged encounter with another star of the chain, Cristián de la Fuente, in 2009.

His ex-wife Francesca Cruz is also known to have accused him of domestic violence at the time of his divorce.

While social networks are burning with criticism of the reactions that some of Paco Fuentes's colleagues had to this mishap, Univision emphasized in his statement his outright disapproval: "Censorship and acts of violence against any journalist are reprehensible regardless of their source".

At the moment it is not clear if the reporter will file a lawsuit against Yáñez, who through a tweet asked him for a brief apology, or if, if he did, what would be the support that his employers would give him in that legal course.
