Sofía Niño De Rivera Receives Death Threats

Comedian Sofía Niño de Rivera reported on her Facebook that due to the death threats she had received, she had to cancel one of her performances in the city of Chihuahua, Mexico.

What caused the anger of some people? Apparently, in a special on the show Sofía Niño de Rivera: Exposed (Netflix), which was broadcast more than a year ago, Niño spoke about his mother who is originally from the state of Chihuahua and started making multiple jokes about people and customs of the state.

Unfortunately, many did not like the little jokes. So when announcing his presentation in the city, endless threats came through his social networks. "Come turn around and we will disappear you. There were many messages not that they did not like my comedy, but that they were going to physically hurt me, that is no longer valid," said the Mexican in a video on her Facebook, where she also exposed that Chihuahua was the place where most feminicides took place.

"They were really threatening me with death and with that I don't play. I'm not going to expose myself to being hurt or being killed. It's not by force, I don't have to go. I can't go to Chihuahua because they want to kill me."

To end the broadcast, Niño added. "If you want to defend your state, defend it from things that really matter, not from a comedian," she said. "I hope it is part of Mexico that it evolves enough to know the difference between aggression and comedy."
