The Return Of American Apparel

The controversial American apparel brand, which has sparked scandal over its provocative ads, reopens its doors after closing all of its 110 stores a few months ago. Known for its comfortable and versatile pieces, the American brand has just surprised the fashion world and its consumers with the great news that its basic garments will be on sale again.

And soon.

The company a few days ago uploaded a photo to its Instagram account dated 08-14-17, thus signaling that they would reopen its doors on August 14. So they are already open!

American Apparel filed for bankruptcy in 2015 and in early 2017 it was acquired by Canadian company Gildan Activewear. Soon they declared that they were going to close all their stores and they did so.

Four months later, here we are. American Apparel is back, but now instead of a 6,000-piece catalog, the website shows a much smaller selection of clothing.

On the page it says "We are Back … to Basics". In other words, "Back to basics" and it has the same retro design as before.

“We actually get really excited when we see people say 'American Apparel is back and looks the same.' For us it is a compliment because we never wanted to change it,”the brand's vice president, Silvia Mazzuchelli, told Fashionista.

The biggest difference from the new American Apparel is that now it will not all be made in the United States, as it was before, something the brand was very proud of. They will have as an alternative a section dedicated to products made in the country for consumers who prefer to buy the garments made here.
