Another case of family violence is shaking the world. This time that of a woman who was sentenced to death yesterday, in an Arizona court, for torturing and killing her own cousin in 2011, who was only 10 years old. And all, only because she had stolen an ice cream.

As Daily News reported, Sammantha Allen, now 29, punished her 10-year-old cousin Ame Deal by locking her in a plastic container overnight. But before, he had made her run around the patio of the house and do exhausting exercises under a temperature of 103 degrees.

The girl, who was 4.2 feet tall, was locked in a 14-inch-wide box, which only had two small holes. There she spent the whole night while her cousin and her husband went to sleep. When they opened the box six or seven hours later, the poor creature had already died.

Police said that when her little body was found, her knees were bruised and marked by "blunt contact" with the box lid.

Deal's death was the culmination of a history of abuse and not only of her cousin, but of several family members who lived in that house. As reported by CBS News, in her short existence, the little girl was forced to eat dog feces, crush aluminum cans without shoes, eat hot sauce and enter that storage box in which she ended up dying.

Investigators also said those adults punished the girl by kicking her in the face, hitting her with a wooden paddle and throwing her into a cold pool.

Sammantha Allen's husband John is also charged with first-degree murder and child abuse. His trial will take place in October.
