The fatalities charged by the gas explosion at a Minneapolis school climbed to two, after rescuers identified the corpse of another employee within the rubble.

The second victim identified is John Carlson, the gatekeeper of the Minnehaha Academy, a Christian student center. The worker was 81 years old and, in his youth, he had studied on this campus himself. When he had children, they all studied there too and when he retired, he returned to work there. In a statement, school officials described his faithful alumnus and worker as "his greatest cheerleader and a long-standing presence" in that study center.

The academy also paid tribute, in a different statement, to the other victim, who was also her employee. It was the receptionist, Ruth Berg who had been working with them for 17 years and had just gotten married. Her boyfriend commented that just one day before this terrible accident, the guests had received the invitation to their wedding in the mail.

"She will be deeply missed," the school said. "Please keep Ruth's family, and our school community, in your prayers."

Yesterday morning the Minneapolis community was shocked by the news that 2 people were killed and 9 injured after the explosion that caused a natural gas leak in that private school, which was caused by contractors working in the building.

At the time of the incident, there were many young people attending summer camp playing various sports, but none of them were injured.
